SPORTEL’s Environmental Commitment

2025 SPORTEL

As one of the leading sports media and technology conventions, SPORTEL Monaco is committed to shaping a more sustainable and responsible future. Guided by Monaco’s strong environmental values, SPORTEL integrates eco-friendly practices across its operations to reduce its carbon footprint and promote sustainability within the global sports business community. This shared commitment reflects SPORTEL’s belief that innovation and environmental responsibility must go hand in hand in building the future of sport.

SPORTEL’s sustainability efforts are reinforced by its location in Monaco, a principality dedicated to environmental progress. Monaco’s walkability and its plan for a 100% electric public transport system by 2030 provide SPORTEL participants with convenient and low-impact mobility options. Under the leadership of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, Monaco has championed ambitious sustainability policies, making it an ideal environment for responsible, forward-thinking events.

Sustainability-Inspired Event Practices at SPORTEL Monaco

As a major international event, SPORTEL recognizes the important role business conventions can play in supporting environmental progress. While global emissions are largely driven by heavy industry, studies show that events account for only a small share of greenhouse gases, yet they hold significant potential to create positive environmental and social impact through thoughtful design and responsible practices.

Guided by these principles, SPORTEL continues to adopt sustainable event strategies that minimize its environmental footprint and strengthen local benefits. This includes embracing Monaco’s low-emission urban design, encouraging environmentally conscious behavior among participants, and working closely with local partners to support community initiatives. By applying global best practices, SPORTEL delivers an event experience that is not only innovative and business-focused, but also aligned with broader sustainability goals shaping the future of sport.

Time-Efficient & Energy-Efficient Event Design at SPORTEL Monaco

One of SPORTEL Monaco’s unique strengths is its highly centralized event format, which naturally enhances both time efficiency and energy efficiency. Because all business meetings, networking sessions, and exhibitions take place within the same venue, participants can move seamlessly throughout the event without relying on transportation or navigating multiple locations.

This centralized structure significantly reduces the event’s overall carbon footprint by lowering travel-related emissions while also improving operational efficiency. Delegates save valuable time, and the event minimizes the energy consumption typically required to run multiple buildings or dispersed meeting spaces. By combining convenience, productivity, and environmental responsibility, SPORTEL Monaco reinforces its commitment to delivering a high-quality convention experience that supports both sustainable practices and industry innovation.

Grimaldi Forum’s dedication to a greener future:

Grimaldi Forum

SPORTEL Monaco takes place at the Grimaldi Forum, an oceanfront convention centre in Monaco’s Larvotto district that shares SPORTEL’s strong commitment to sustainability. The Grimaldi Forum has held ISO 14001 certification since 2008, an internationally recognized standard for environmental management and continuous improvement.

The venue demonstrates its eco-conscious efforts through the use of seawater and solar panels as its main energy sources, achieving a 40% improvement in energy efficiency since certification.

During SPORTEL, recycling bins are placed throughout the venue to encourage attendees to take part in sustainability practices. In addition, local vendors are used for meals, reducing transport emissions and supporting the local community which further reinforcing SPORTEL’s and the Grimaldi Forum’s shared dedication to environmental responsibility.
